One of the biggest categories, Limestone is a sedimentary rock, composed mainly of skeletal fragments of marine organisms such as coral, forams and mollusks. Its major materials are the minerals calcite and aragonite, which are different crystal forms of calcium carbonate (CaCO3). Color and form vary depending on the mineral content.
It is used for centuries, from Egyptian Pyramids to skyscrapers facades. Jerusalem stone is a distinctive material with golden color, which’s finishing goes from polished to tumbled or rough chisel aspect.
Limestone floors give informal aspect, but no less elegant than the traditional style, which it totally completes.
Limestone is a porous, durable stone and it’s density can vary considerably. It is recommended to grout the surfaces in order to protect against humidity and bacteria development, especially in kitchen and bathroom areas.
Surface finishing goes from honed with polished aspect to brushed or easy hydro jet finishing. Shivery finishing can give limestone an antique look.
Limestone is recommended both for interior and exterior works: vertical and horizontal plating, facades, stairs, fireplaces, decorative carpets, massive decorative elements.
